Education

We are a non-profit organization dedicated to community development projects in the Malanje region of Angola. Our mission is to drive positive change through sustainable initiatives that significantly impact the communities we serve, for which education is a fundamental tool.

SCHOOL

The Association, in collaboration with the Mercedarian Sisters, has built a school for more than seven hundred students with nine classrooms, a room for teachers and administration, as well as toilets for teachers and students.

The school was inaugurated on February 6, 2024.

In September 2024, the school was expanded with four additional classrooms, allowing it to offer both morning and afternoon sessions, which has led to the enrollment of over a thousand students from the neighborhood. Following this expansion, the educational facility became known as the Ana Rivas MC School Complex.

COMPUTER ROOM AND LIBRARY

As a complement to the school complex, the construction of a computer lab is nearing completion. It already has over twenty computers and projection equipment. It will also include library facilities. Both facilities will be available for use by the school community and the residents of the Cahala neighborhood.

LITERACY PROJECT IN MALANJE, ANGOLA

Given that 90% of the rural population is illiterate, and nearly 100% of women are illiterate, there is a need to create literacy schools for the people, both women and men, who participate in agricultural projects. This is all being coordinated by Professor Filomena, a collaborator with the Association.

The literacy instructors are members of their own community and have received adequate training. There have been prior training sessions to establish objectives, define the methodology to be followed, and review the teaching materials (provided by the Ministry). These materials, including workbooks, are purchased by the students.

  • In two villages they have started with three classes per week first thing in the morning (at 7 a.m.), before going to the fields.

  • In a neighborhood of the city, Cahala, they have daily classes in the afternoon after the workday.

  • And in another village, there are two classes daily: one for adults in the morning and another in the afternoon for young people. The classes are held at the school (three groups) and in a chapel (one group).
